Astralis were crowned the IEM Beijing champions after taking down 100 Thieves in quick fashion in a one-sided best-of-five series.

The Danish team capped off a dream tournament with another blowout victory to leave Beijing with another trophy - their fourth of the year - and a clean sheet after nine maps played. It was a performance reminiscent of 2018 for Astralis, who survived a curve ball thrown at them in the form of a Vertigo pick before shutting down the helpless Australians on the following maps, Nuke and Train.

Two months after winning the StarLadder Major, Astralis taste glory once again and are looking in prime position to finish out the season at the summit. They also enter the race for the Intel Grand Slam Season 3 prize, with a second title up for grabs next month at the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals.

Playing their first-ever Big Event final, 100 Thieves went for a Vertigo pick with hopes of catching Astralis off-guard despite the Danes' flawless record on the map in the last three months, and it worked at first. They immediately traded back every round that went Astralis' way during the early stages, forcing coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen to call a tactical pause at 2-5 to prevent the Australians from building up momentum.

Upon returning to the game, Astralis tightened up and finally took the upper hand as they won five rounds without response. The Danes seemed to be in control but they would get manage to go into the break up by one after being surprised by 100 Thieves' CZs late in the half.

Astralis were too hot for 100 Thieves to handle

There was not much separating the two teams for the entirety of the second half, which was highly contested from the offset. With the scoreline tied at 13-13, Emil "Magisk" Reif thought he had given his team the edge when he pulled off a 1v2 clutch to inflict some serious damage on 100 Thieves' economy. Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas went huge in the next round with a trio of kills, two them with a USP, to level the score once again and give his team a lifeline before Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander - who has enjoyed flashes of his 2018 form in Beijing - turned the tide back in Astralis' favor with a quad kill, leaving the Australians with no tools to contest the final round.

Nuke followed a completely different trajectory. At first, it seemed that 100 Thieves had a plan as they managed to come back from a 3-0 deficit after getting guns in hand, but the rest of the half was all about Astralis, who raced to an 11-4 lead after running over the Australian defense.

More misery was to come for 100 Thieves, who lost the opening three rounds of the second half and then saw Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth put Astralis on map point with a signature clutch. The Australians would only manage to get one round on the board before the game was brought to an end by the current Major champions, who were firing on all cylinders.

100 Thieves got off to a winning start on Train, but they were handed no respite as Astralis hit back immediately with Scouts. The Danish team ran away with the game after that and cruised to a 12-3 lead, with Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad doing his best to keep his team afloat with two big plays.

The Australians came close to winning the second-half pistol, but Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen denied them with two key kills in a 2v3 situation. Astralis kept their foot on the pedal and quickly laid the game to rest to wrap up this one-sided affair.
